SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Binghamton (3-3-0) scored three goals in a span of 3:07 midway through the second half and held on for a 3-2 win at Le Moyne (1-4-0) in a non-conference men's soccer match on Sunday afternoon at Ted Grant Field. The victory represents the Bearcats' third triumph in their last four outings.
The three-goal outburst by the Bearcats, which began in the 65th minute, included two goals by junior forward Anthony Randazzo. It marked the second two-goal performance of his career, with the first coming against Hofstra back on Sept. 2, 2024.
Down 1-0 in the 65th minute, junior forward Kevaughn Harris deadlocked the match when he finished off a cross by sophomore forward DT Megliola from close range. It was his second goal of the season.
Randazzo's first score came two minutes later on a penalty kick. Then just 44 seconds later, junior midfielder Alex Balkey fired a long pass to Randazzo who slid the ball just inside the right post. The performance by Randazzo came in his season debut, as he was injured for the first five matches.
The Dolphins trimmed the deficit to 3-2 in the 83rd minute on a goal by Karl Lundstrom Svahnqvist. From there, however, the Bearcats were able to finish off the match.
"It was great to have Anthony back today and his second goal was fantastic," head coach Paul Marco said. "He also took a very good PK (penalty kick). Our guys had a great offensive stretch to get back into the match during that second half."
Shot on goal favored Le Moyne by an 11-10 margin but the Bearcats had a 7-4 advantage in shot on goal.
Binghamton hosts Iona this coming Saturday at 6:07 p.m.
NOTE: Randazzo's two goals against Hofstra also marks the most recent two-goal performance by a Binghamton player ... the program record for the fastest three goals is 1:37, against Maine on Oct. 20, 2007 ... Randazzo, Balkey and Harris are all tied for the team lead with two goals. Balkey is first, meanwhile, with five total points.
