ALBANY, N.Y. – The Binghamton men's basketball team (4-15, 0-4 America East) fell to in-state rival UAlbany (6-12, 2-1 America East) 69-53 Thursday at Broadview Center.

Wes Peterson, Jr., led the Bearcats with 13 points, the second game in a row he has scored that many. Jeremiah Quigley added 10 points for Binghamton, and Zyier Beverly grabbed six rebounds while blocking a game-high three shots for the Bearcats. UAlbany was led by Amir Lindsey, who scored 23 points and added seven assists.

The Great Danes got out to a 10-4 lead early, but Binghamton kept within striking distance. A three-point play from Beverly and a three-pointer from the corner by Jackson Benigni brought the Bearcats within one at 11-10 with 11:19 left in the opening half. After UAlbany stretched its lead to 19-12, Binghamton countered with a 7-0 run, completed with a lay-in from Peterson, Jr. to tie the game at 19 with 3:58 left. However, the Great Danes closed out the half on an 8-5 run to go into halftime up 27-24. Peterson, Jr., finished the half leading the team with seven points, while Beverly had recorded five rebounds.

Binghamton opened the second half on a 4-0 run to go ahead 28-27, its first lead of the game since the Bearcats were up 3-2. But UAlbany countered with a 17-6 run to grab a 44-34 advantage, leading to Binghamton to call a timeout at the 14:05 mark. Binghamton would fight back, as a dunk from Stephan Snagg brought the Bearcats within six at 54-48 with 8:48 left. But Binghamton was unable to close the gap further, as UAlbany grew its lead back to double figures, ultimately closing the game out on a 15-5 run to get the win.

The Bearcats return to action on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, as Binghamton hosts UMBC at 2 p.m., Monday at Dr. Bai Lee Court in the Events Center.
