HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Binghamton volleyball team (11-7, 2-3 America East) picked up its third-straight win Tuesday night after the Bearcats defeated Fairleigh Dickinson (8-14, 5-1 NEC) at the Bogota Savings Bank Center. Binghamton won the match 25-19, 25-18 and 25-22.
The victory was Binghamton's second-straight sweep, following the Bearcats' 3-0 victory at NJIT on Oct. 16. It is the first time that the Bearcats have defeated consecutive opponents in straight sets since 2025. That year, the Bearcats swept both Mercyhurst and Canisius on Sept. 12 at the Binghamton Invitational.
Against FDU,
Francesca Pierdonati led the way with a career-high 13 kills, as the sophomore middle blocker hit .545 for the night. Pierdonati also added three total blocks, three digs and one service ace.
Magi Milicevic, the reigning America East Player of the Week, added 11 kills, while
Maya Coblentz-Brown had 10.
Regan Kadel, who was named the Setter of the Week by the America East on Tuesday, put up 39 assists and 10 digs against FDU, making it her second double-double in three matches and fourth overall this season.
Briana Binagi also had a career-high 16 digs.
With both teams tied at 4 in the early stages of the first set, Binghamton went on a 7-2 run to move ahead 11-6. Milicevic and Pierdonati each had two kills during that stretch for Binghamton. The Bearcats remained ahead for the rest of the set, eventually taking it to go ahead 1-0 in the match.
Binghamton held a slim 8-7 lead in the second set, before scoring five consecutive points to extend its advantage to 13-7. After the Knights got within four points at 13-9, the Bearcats countered with another 5-0 run to go up 18-9. Binghamton ultimately won the set, thanks in part to four kills throughout the frame by Pierdonati.
The third set had more adversity for the Bearcats. Binghamton trailed for much of the set, being down as much as seven points at 11-4. Another 5-0 run by Binghamton kept themselves within striking distance, however. Despite trailing 16-10, the Bearcats rallied by using a 9-2 run to go ahead 19-18. After FDU tied the set at 19, Binghamton took the next three points to put itself within two points of winning the match. Ultimately, while holding a 24-21 lead, Milicevic closed out the match with her final kill of the night, giving the Bearcats the victory.
