VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer looks to strengthen its hold on first place in the America East and extend its three-season-long conference win streak when the Bearcats (7-2-4, 3-0-2 AE) host NJIT (4-8-2, 1-4-1 AE) at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Binghamton enters its final home game of the regular season sporting a 19-game conference unbeaten streak (12-0-7) dating back to the 2024 season. The Bearcats hold a narrow one-point edge over Maine and UMBC atop the standings with three games remaining. Looming is a heavyweight matchup between Binghamton and Maine Sunday in Orono.Â
The Bearcats are unbeaten in their last five (3-0-2) and are coming off a scoreless draw last Thursday at UMBC. Senior forward
Paige Luke leads the conference with seven assists and 15 points and junior forward
Jahkaya Davis is tied for the league lead with seven goals. Senior keeper
Rebecca Kessler ranks first in the nation with nine shutouts and is sixth in goals against average (0.38), having only allowed five goals all season.Â
NJITÂ snapped a four-game losing skid with a scoreless home draw against unbeaten Vermont on Sunday. The Highlanders also own a 3-2 win over New Hampshire. Two of the team's four losses were 1-0 results against UMBC and Bryant. NJITÂ hasn't scored a goal in more than five games and has just 11 in 14 games this fall.Â
Binghamton leads the all-time series 6-0-2, but the teams have played back-to-back 1-1 ties in their two most recent meetings. Last season in Newark, the Bearcats needed a second-half goal to earn the point, despite a comfortable margin in possession and chances.Â
