STORY LINES

- This weekend marks the Bearcats' second appearance at an in-season tournament at Auburn. Binghamton also traveled to the 2020 Auburn Tiger Classic.

- Binghamton (1-4) is currently ranked No. 22 in the D1Softball Mid-Major Poll. The Bearcats  faced a pair of nationally-ranked opponents as well as three Power 4 Conference teams this past weekend at the South Carolina Invitational. In addition to the host Gamecocks, the Bearcats met Virginia Tech and Syracuse.

- Senior pitcher Brianna Roberts, who pitched a complete-game victory against Syracuse on Feb. 6, is the current America East Pitcher of the Week. Senior first baseman Emma Lawson is the current conference Player of the Week, having batted .400 and driven in a pair of runs last weekend.

- Redshirt junior second baseman Akira Kopec and freshman designated player Lauren Payne tied for the team lead with three RBI at South Carolina last weekend. Kopec also hit the Bearcats' lone home run of the weekend against Syracuse on Feb. 6.

- Playing in the America East Conference, Binghamton is the defending champion and the unanimous pick to place first again in the conference Preseason Poll. In addition to Roberts, Lawson and Kopec, senior pitcher Olivia Kennedy,  junior outfielder Maddy Dodig, junior catcher Elisa Allen and sophomore infielder Rachel Carey were all named to this year's America East Preseason All-Conference Team.

- Binghamton has three players who are listed among the D1Softball.com Top 100 Mid-Major Players. Roberts is No. 39, followed by Allen at No. 48 and Lawson at No. 69. 

- Illinois (0-5) is a member of the Big Ten Conference and will mark the Bearcats' sixth straight game against a Power 4 Conference opponent. The Illini opened up its season at the LSU Tiger Classic last weekend. Skylar Brennan led the team with a .462 batting average (6-for-13). 

- In the only previous match up between the two schools, Illinois defeated Binghamton 15-2 on Feb. 15, 2014 at the South Florida Tournament. Current head coach Jess Bump was a senior infielder on that season's Bearcat squad.

- Bradley (2-3) is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). The Braves opened their season last weekend at the UIW Cardinal Classic. Morgan Schlosser hit a team-best .612 (11-for-18) with two home runs and six RBI. 

- This weekend marks the first-ever meeting between Binghamton and Bradley in softball.

- Campbell (5-0) is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The Camels won their home tournament this past weekend, sweeping all five games. Charlie Montgomery was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week after batting .643 (9-for-14) with a pair of extra-base hits, six RBI, six runs scored and three stolen bases.

- The only previous game between Binghamton and Campbell was a memorable one. It took place on Feb. 14, 2015 with the Bearcats winning 9-8 on a walkoff grand slam by Sarah Miller. It was a neutral site contest at the Georgia Southern Eagle Classic.

- Auburn (4-2) marks another Power-4 Conference opponent for the Bearcats. The Tigers, who are currently receiving votes in the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) Top 25 Poll,  compete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). 

- The Tigers are the second SEC team Binghamton has faced this season. The Bearcats met then No. 12 South Carolina this past Sunday.

- At the NCAA Leadoff Classic last weekend, the Tigers went 3-2. Their most impressive win was a 10-5 victory over then ninth-ranked Clemson on Feb. 7.

- Haven Roebuck of Auburn is the current Softball on SI Freshman of the Week. She posted a .450 batting average with nine hits - five of which went for extra bases. Roebuck also finished the week with a .700 slugging percentage and a .542 on-base percentage.

- Binghamton's previous two games against Auburn both took place at the 2020 Auburn Tiger Classic. The Tigers won 10-3 on Feb. 29 and 11-6 on March 1. 


UPCOMING MILESTONES


- Brianna Roberts enters the weekend with 387 career strikeouts, which ranks fourth all-time in program history. She trails only Demi Laney (460 from 2011-14), Margaret Yerdon (431 from 1998-02) and Michelle Weeks (398 from 2001-04). Roberts is only 13 strikeouts away from recording 400 for her career.

- Roberts also ranked fourth in Binghamton program history with 42 victories. She is one win away from tying Yerdon for third place with 43 wins. Charlene Cook (1995-98) is first all time with 54 wins while Amanda Schilling (1993-96) is second with 49 victories.

- Emma Lawson ranks No. 10 all time in Binghamton program history with 87 RBI. In ninth place - with 97 RBI - is current head coach Jess Bump, who played from 2011-14. There are eight players in Binghamton program history who have reached the 100 RBI mark for their career.

- Lawson also has 93 hits during her career. She is seven hits away from becoming the 26th player in program history to reach the 100 hit mark.

- There are only five players in Binghamton program history who have finished their careers with both 100 hits and 100 RBI. They include Jessica Rutherford (2015-18), Sydney Harbaugh (2013-16), Lisa Cadogan (2013-16), Jessica Phllips (2011-14) and Kate Richard (2015-18).

- Elisa Allen is tied with Cadogan for fifth place all time in program history with 30 home runs. In fourth place is Taylor Chaffee (2013-16) with 34 home runs. Phillips is first (44), followed by Deannie Plemon (34 from 2008-11) and Richard (also 34).
