STORY LINES

Binghamton (1-8) has been off since competing at the Auburn Tiger Invitational Feb. 13-15. Sophomore third baseman Rachel Carey leads the Bearcats and ranks third in the America East with a .379 batting average. Graduate student outfielder Darien McDonough, meanwhile, is eighth (.357) followed by junior outfielder Maddy Dodig at No. 11 (.318).

Dodig is also seventh in the America East in on-base percentage (.444), fourth in slugging percentage (.682) and fifth with a 1.126 OPS. She homered twice for Binghamton at the Auburn Tiger Classic.

St. Joseph's (5-6) took three out of five games at the South Florida Tournament last weekend. York Riley leads the Hawks with a .464 batting average while Julia Shearer has driven in a team-best 11 runs.

St. Joseph's leads the all-time series against Binghamton 3-2. The two teams most recently split a pair of games at the 2024 James Madison Tournament. The Bearcats won the first game 7-1 that March 8 but the Hawks got even with a 4-2 triumph two days later.

Florida Atlantic (12-6) is receiving votes in the NFCA Top 25 poll and is currently ranked fourth in the D1Softball.com Mid-Major Poll. Lily Holtje leads the Owls with a .452 batting average, three home runs and 17 RBI.

This weekend marks the first-ever meeting between Binghamton and Florida Atlantic in softball.

Coastal Carolina (8-7) is ranked No. 15 in the current D1Softball.com Mid-Major Poll. The Chanticleers have been led so far this season by Brie Normandine, who is batting .513. In addition, Georgia Hood has belted six home runs and racked up 13 RBI.

Binghamton and Coastal Carolina also square off for the first time ever in softball.


UPCOMING MILESTONES

- Brianna Roberts enters the weekend with 398 career strikeouts, which is tied for third all-time in program history with Michelle Weeks (2001-04). She trails only Demi Laney (460 from 2011-14) and Margaret Yerdon (431 from 1998-02). Roberts is only two strikeouts away from recording 400 for her career.

- Roberts also ranked fourth in Binghamton program history with 42 victories. She is one win away from tying Yerdon for third place with 43 wins. Charlene Cook (1995-98) is first all time with 54 wins while Amanda Schilling (1993-96) is second with 49 victories.

- Emma Lawson ranks No. 10 all time in Binghamton program history with 87 RBI. In ninth place - with 97 RBI - is current head coach Jess Bump, who played from 2011-14. There are eight players in Binghamton program history who have reached the 100 RBI mark for their career.

- Lawson also has 95 hits during her career. She is seven hits away from becoming the 26th player in program history to reach the 100 hit mark.

- There are only five players in Binghamton program history who have finished their careers with both 100 hits and 100 RBI. They include Jessica Rutherford (2015-18), Sydney Harbaugh (2013-16), Lisa Cadogan (2013-16), Jessica Phllips (2011-14) and Kate Richard (2015-18).

- Elisa Allen is tied with Cadogan for fifth place all time in program history with 31 home runs. In fourth place is Taylor Chaffee (2013-16) with 34 home runs. Phillips is first (44), followed by Deannie Plemon (34 from 2008-11) and Richard (also 34).

Four teams on the Bearcats' schedule are either ranked or receiving votes in the current NFCA Top 25 poll. They include Virginia Tech (No. 11), South Carolina (No. 19), Florida Atlantic (RV) and Auburn (RV).
