VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton women's lacrosse (0-1) fell in their season debut against Marist (1-0) 10-6, Friday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex
.
A cold afternoon in Vestal saw Marist register the first three goals. Binghamton's
Christina Lauro tallied the Bearcats' first goal of the season with the help from
Anthea Hayslip.
The Bearcats began to found an offensive groove in the second quarter, starting with Lauro's goal, Binghamton would go on to score four consecutive times to take a 4-3 lead. Binghamton's lead was cut short though as Marist tied the game in just under a minute and would register two more goals to take a 6-4 lead at the half.
Marist came out of the half and took control of the third quarter. Scoring four times to make it a 10-5 game with 15 minutes left to play.
In the final minutes of the fourth quarter,
Jess Robinson connected with
Carla Curth to become the sixth different Bearcat to score.
Sophomore
Emily Backlin made her collegiate debut between the pipes, making a solid 15 saves.
The Bearcats return to action next Friday at 3 p.m.against Siena at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
