Women's lacrosse claims 15-9 victory over RMU

Bearcats overcome weather and delays to pick up big road victory ahead of AE play

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Despite a few weather delays, Binghamton women's lacrosse (3-5) was triumphant on Saturday afternoon, after defeating RMU (2-5) 15–9 at Joe Walton Stadium. Emma Blloshmi led the team in scoring with five goals, while Carla Curth reached the 100-point milestone mark with a five-point outing against the Colonials.

"I'm proud of our players for earning a road win right before conference play," head coach Stephanie Allen stated. "We battled tough weather and delays today, so seeing our resilience shine was really positive."

The Bearcats set the tone early, scoring seven goals in the opening quarter to take a commanding 7–0 lead. Senior attacker Emma Blloshmi sparked the early surge, scoring three first-quarter goals as Binghamton controlled possession and capitalized on offensive opportunities. Goals from Curth, Sienna Fox, and Brooke Bort added to the early run as the Bearcats built a large cushion.

RMU responded in the second quarter with four straight goals to cut into the deficit, but Binghamton halted the momentum late in the period. Blloshmi found the net again with just over three minutes remaining in the half, and Jess Robinson added another goal with 10 seconds left before halftime to give the Bearcats a 9–4 lead at the break.

Binghamton extended its lead in the third quarter with four more goals, including a pair of player advantages from Christina Lauro and Sabrina Boyle. Curth and Blloshmi also scored during the stretch to push the lead to 13–4 before RMU answered with three late goals in the period.

The Colonials continued to push in the fourth quarter, scoring twice on player advantages to narrow the margin. However, Curth and Robinson each added late goals to seal the 15–9 victory for the Bearcats.

In goal, Emily Backlin made three saves in the first three quarters before Maeve Sayre recorded five saves in the fourth to help secure the win.

"We look forward to building off this win as we shift our focus to America East competition," coach Allen concluded with.

The Bearcats begin America East play next Saturday when they head to Baltimore, Md. to take on UMBC for a noon start time.
