BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Binghamton softball (4-14) shook off an early deficit and scored the game's final eight runs to roll past visiting Colgate (7-14) 8-1 Sunday morning at Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park.
Graduate outfielder
Darien McDonough and sophomore third baseman
Rachel Carey accounted for five hits and four RBI to lead a 13-hit Bearcat attack.
Down 1-0 after the Raiders hit a home run in the third, Binghamton rallied with three runs on three hits in the fourth and five runs on three hits in the fifth.
The run cushion was more than enough for sophomore pitcher
Savanna McHale, who went the distance and allowed just one run with three strikeouts.
Freshman left fielder
Megan Wolf went 2-for-3 with an RBI and senior shortstop
Rebecca Minnichbach drove in two runs.
The Bearcats totaled six doubles, half of which came off the bat of McDonough, who raised her season count to five. Carey, meanwhile, elevated her team-high batting average to .475, which leads the entire America East.
Binghamton returns to the road next weekend for a three-game set at Princeton, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday.
