BURLINGTON, Vt. - Binghamton women's lacrosse (5-8, 2-3 AE) dropped an America East matchup on the road Saturday, falling 13-8 to Vermont (7-6, 3-1 AE) at Virtue Field.
Emma Blloshmi paced the offense with her 20th career hat trick, while
Sienna Fox added two goals and an assist.
Vermont set the tone early, jumping out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter. The Catamounts built that advantage with a 3-0 run to start the game and never trailed the rest of the afternoon.
Binghamton responded in the second quarter, briefly cutting the deficit to 6-4 with back-to-back goals from
Mia Forte and
Emma Blloshmi. However, Vermont answered before halftime to take a 7-4 lead into the break.
The Bearcats made their strongest push in the third quarter. Blloshmi scored twice in a four-minute span to bring Binghamton within one at 7-6.
Vermont pulled away in the final period, outscoring Binghamton 5-2 in the fourth to seal the 13-8 victory.
The Bearcats compete in a non-conference contest next Sunday on the road against Delaware State.
