Softball Heads to Maine for AE Series

Bearcats and Black Bears scheduled for DH on Saturday, single game Sunday

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (12-20, 11-3 AE) swept St. Bonaventure 12-7, 11-3 in a home non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. Junior catcher Elisa Allen went a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate with a home run and seven RBI. The Bearcats pounded out 29 hits during the day - including 10 for extra bases - and posted a team batting average of .500.

- Maine (10-27, 4-7 AE) recorded a 2-1 win over visiting Husson on Wednesday night. Madison Hand smacked the go-ahead home run in the top of the fifth inning. 

- Sophomore third baseman Rachel Carey leads the America East in batting (.495), on-base percentage (.534) and OPS (1.353). Allen, meanwhile, is tops in the conference in both home runs (11) and RBI (32).

- As a team, Binghamton leads the America East with a .313 batting average. The Bearcats are also top with 32 home runs and a .515 slugging percentage.

- Kaelyn Larkin leads Maine with a .328 batting average. Kiera Inman has homered four times and driven in 15 runs.

- Earlier in the season, Binghamton took a 12-11, 11-3 home conference doubleheader from Maine on March 29. Allen and junior outfielder Maddy Dodig each drove in five runs during the day while graduate student outfielder Darien McDonough scored five times. 

- Binghamton leads the all-time series against Maine 38-37. Dating back to 2022, the Bearcats have won six straight games at Maine.


- Senior first baseman Emma Lawson enters the series against Maine with 96 career RBI. She is four RBI away from becoming just the 10th player in program history to reach the century mark for her career.

- Allen begins the weekend with 41 career home runs. She is just three home runs away from the all-time Binghamton program record of 44 home runs - set by Jesscia Phillips from 2010-13. In addition, the all-time America East record for home runs is 46, which was set twice.

- McDonough is currently fourth in the America East in batting (.379) while Dodig is eighth (.367). In addition, McDonough is tied for second in the conference with 13 doubles followed by Dodig in fourth place (10 doubles).

- Carey enters the series against Maine with a team-best, five-game hitting streak. She leads the Bearcats this season with 16 multiple-hit games - including eight games with at least three hits. With 98 career hits entering the weekend, Carey is two hits away from becoming the 28th player in Binghamton program history to reach the century mark. 

- Allen has reached base safely in a team-best eight straight games. She also leads the Bearcats this season with nine multiple-RBI games.

- On Wednesday against St. Bonaventure, Dodig became the 27th player in Binghamton program history to reach the 100-hit mark for her career. Lawson reached that milestone earlier in the season.
