VESTAL, N.Y. - Visiting Cornell (8-23) hit four home runs and kept Binghamton baseball (21-14) off the board for seven of nine innings in a 10-6 win Tuesday night at the Bearcats Baseball Complex. The loss snapped Binghamton's 11-game win streak, which was the longest current streak in the country.
Cornell hit the first pitch of the game out of the park and it served as a harbinger for the evening. The Big Red belted three home runs in the first four innings and quickly built a 6-0 lead before both bullpens kept the game moving with 26 retired hitters in the last 27.Â
Binghamton scored three runs in each of the third and fourth innings and brought the tying run to the plate in the sixth but could draw no closer.Â
Sophomore center fielder
Matt Bolton went 2-for-5 with a two-run single in the fourth inning. Freshman infielder
Caden Albright also had two hits.
The Bearcats continue their stretch of five straight non-conference games when Longwood comes to campus for a weekend set.Â
