Sophia Garofalo has been named America East Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Garofalo anchored a Bearcats' defensive unit that produced back-to-back shutouts over Lehigh (3-0) and Marist (2-0) to open the season. The reigning America East Defender of the Year locked down opposing offenses to the tune of eight combined shots (one on goal) and four combined corner kicks.
She logged 85 minutes against Lehigh and the full 90 against Marist.
Binghamton (2-0) is off until playing at Le Moyne on Sunday.
