Men’s Soccer Ties Mount St. Mary’s 0-0 in Season Opener

Bearcats record clean sheet in first game under interim coach Tommy Moon

EMMITSBURG, Md. –  Binghamton (0-0-0) played to a scoreless tie against Mount St. Mary's (0-0-0) in a non-conference men's soccer match on Thursday night at the Waldron Family Stadium. The game marked the first contest since Tommy Moon was named the Bearcats' interim head coach last spring.

The Bearcats held the advantage in total shots (12-9), possession percentage (53-47) and corner kicks (9-5). On defense, senior goalkeeper Natan Jemaneh Admassu made four saves and the backline of graduate student Will Mahoney, junior Khayr Ogunsanya, fellow junior Ryan Gillon and senior Saar Almoznino held the Mountaineers to four shots on goal - including just one in the second half. 

"We had a good game plan and got off to a great start in the match, Moon said. "Natan and our backline were terrific and in the midfield, Itai (Levisman) and Gaven (Egan) were outstanding. We created a lot of chances up front but just weren't able to finish them. Still, tonight showed that we will be extremely competitive going forward."

Binghamton hosts George Washington on Sunday at 1 p.m. in its home opener.
