Men’s Soccer Defeated 3-0 by GW in home opener

Revolutionaries net pair of goals within 12-minute span

VESTAL, N.Y. – Jaden Dubon assisted on all three goals, sparking George Washington (1-1-0) to a 3-0 victory over Binghamton (0-1-1) in a non-conference men's soccer match on Sunday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The game marked the first home contest for the Bearcats since Tommy Moon was named the interim coach this past spring.

Dubon had the primary assists on all three of the Revolutionaries' goals. The first score in the 23rd minute came from Webb Kosich and the secondary assist was credited to Joe Brayson. George Washington then blew the match open with two goals over a stretch of 12 minutes. Yago Torres scored in the 47th minute and Finn Roberts followed in the 59th minute.

The Revolutionaries also held the advantage in total shots (10-4), shots on goal (6-2), corners (5-3) and possession percentage (58-42).

"Today was obviously extremely disappointing," Moon said. "The coaching staff - myself included - take full responsibility for the result. I don't think the team was prepared as well as they should have been and there wasn't enough clarity with what we wanted to do in the game. So the coaching staff takes full responsibility for the result."

Making his second straight start in goal, senior keeper Natan Jemaneh Admassu made three saves. At the other end of the field, Tom Macauley finished with a pair of saves to record the solo shutout.

Binghamton travels to Lafayette on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match.
