Taylor Gabel finished a cross from senior back
Megan Baker in the 69th minute to give Binghamton women's soccer (4-2-3, 0-0-1 America East) a 1-1 home draw with UMass Lowell (3-4-2, 0-0-1 AE) Sunday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
With the tie, Binghamton extended its conference unbeaten streak to 15 games dating back to the 2024 season. During that stretch, the Bearcats are 9-0-6.
Binghamton had to rally in this one as the River Hawks struck first in the 18th minute on a wide-angled shot that found the far corner.
But after being outshot 9-2 in the first half, Binghamton rebounded in the second and earned the equalizer on Gabel's second goal of her young career. On the play, senior forward
Paige Luke spun around a few UML defenders before curling a ball to Baker inside the box on the right. Baker took a touch and sent a crisp ball through the middle to Gabel, who made no mistake from three yards out.
"It's good we were able to salvage a point," head coach
Neel Bhattacharjee said. "It was a good response from us in the second half. We were able to step up our lines, get pressure on the flanks and when that happened the game started to flip in our favor. We wanted the full three points today but Lowell is a good side and they will be a team that makes the postseason. For now, we're pleased with the second half but we have to make sure we play like that over the course of 90 minutes."
The Bearcats almost got off to a dream start when Baker headed in a free kick from senior back
Sophia Garofalo just 3:20 into the contest. But the goal was waived off with an offsides call.
Binghamton hosts Bryant next Sunday.
