VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer (5-2-3, 1-0-1 America East) pumped in three goals in a 28-minute second-half span and rolled past visiting Bryant (2-5-2, 0-1 AE) 3-0 in an America East game Sunday afternoon at Bearcats Sports Complex.
The Bearcats owned a 17-1 shots advantage, 63% possession and extended their conference unbeaten streak to 16 games, dating back to the 2024 season. Binghamton is 10-0-6 in that lengthy span.
"It was a pretty comprehensive performance on our part," head coach
Neel Bhattacharjee said. "Defensively only allowing one shot and the attack scoring three different goals and creating numerous other chances. I thought it was a really good performance that we needed. It was great to get the full three points and now we get some rest before a two-game week this coming week."
Despite owning much of the possession in the first half, the Bearcats hit a crossbar and had another great chance saved so the teams were scoreless at the break.
Binghamton opened the second half with a tally just 4:29 into the period. Speedy senior back
Megan Baker broke down the right side and delivered a perfect cross to the six, where senior forward
Paige Luke headed it home for a 1-0 lead. It was Luke's third goal of the season.
Then in the 64th minute, Luke set up freshman midfielder
Chelsea Donaldson for a goal. She rolled a tight pass in traffic to Donaldson, who cut left and sent a 14-yard left-footed shot to the lower right corner for a 2-0 lead.
Luke wasn't done, however. In the 78th minute, Baker led Luke into the box on the right and Luke sent a cross to the middle, where junior forward
Jahkaya Davis slotted it home for her fourth of the season. Luke wound up with a goal and two assists.
The Bearcats varied their lineup throughout the second half (24 subs) and registered 12 shots in the period. Bryant didn't get its first shot until the 77th minute.
Senior goalkeeper
Rebecca Kessler didn't have to make a save in posting her seventh shutout of the season, tied for the most in the country.
The Bearcats next play at UAlbany Thursday night.
