Luber begins his fourth season with the Bearcats in 2015-16, the third as associate head coach. Quickly drawing attention for his coaching acumen and recruiting results, Luber has orchestrated three straight prominent recruiting classes that have boosted Binghamton’s stature in the America East Conference. In addition to being the programs recruiting coordinator, Ben oversees the team defense and player development.
“Ben has been instrumental in helping us rebuild this program,” Dempsey said. “He has done a lot of the heavy lifting behind the scenes to help us build the roster as well as develop the players in the program, both on and off the court.”
RecruitingLuber serves as the recruiting coordinator for the young Bearcats program. Since hiring Luber in 2012, Binghamton has recruited three consecutive America East All-Rookie selections.

Last season the bearcats fielded the youngest division 1 team and BU achieved its highest AE win total in five years. Binghamton was the only team in the nation whose top three scorers were all freshmen.
DefenseThe Bearcats have improved in their defensive efficiency each year that Luber has been with the program. In 2014-15 Binghamton gave up 62.9 points per game, the fewest the program has allowed in the last eight years.
He attributes learning the team’s up-tempo defensive game plan from mentor and friend, Billy Donovan, former head coach of the Florida Gators and current head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Player DevelopmentLuber is now entering his seventh season as a division one basketball coach and claims that player development has been the most rewarding part of his coaching experience.
“I thoroughly enjoy helping individuals achieve their personal goals in basketball. I want to train players who are ambitious for our team to win championships and those who are willing to put the necessary time in to becoming their best. My philosophy has always been outwork your competition, study your weaknesses, and attack them with a relentless mindset.” Since his career began at Rider University in 2009, Ben has helped develop players who have since played professionally in Italy, France, Belgium, Lithuania, Australia, Hungary, Japan, Serbia, Macedonia, Argentina, Iceland, Czech Republic, and Greece.
Prior to coaching college basketball, Luber owned the Ben Luber Basketball Academy, LLC where he trained some of the top talent in Pennsylvania.
