Vestal, NY-- The Binghamton women's tennis team went 1-1 at home Saturday at the newly renovated Bearcats Sports Complex tennis courts. The Bearcats lost their opener 4-0 to Stony Brook, but bounced back with a quick 7-0 victory over Hartford. The win snapped a ten-match losing skid for Binghamton.
Against Hartford, Binghamton took the doubles point on the strength of a pair of 8-2 wins. Sophomore
Katherine Medianik and
Alexis Tashiro won for the first time together at first singles in 2013.
Senior
Jesse Rubin secured her first singles win of the season with a perfect 6-0,6-0 straight set triumph. Medianik picked up her second win at first singles this season and Kohtz improved her dual record to 7-8 this season, including 5-2 from the second singles position.
Binghamton returns to action next Saturday at UMBC and wraps up regular season play with a non-conference match with Temple on the 14th.
