BUFFALO – The Binghamton women's lacrosse team fell to host Canisius 19-10, Monday afternoon at Demske Sports Complex. The Bearcats (4-3) were outscored 12-5 in the first half en route to their second straight defeat. The Golden Griffs (3-3) improved their record against the Bearcats to 9-2 all-time.

Binghamton was led by freshman Bri Arthur who recorded her fifth hat trick of the season. Senior Angela Vespa, junior Renee Kiviat and sophomore Sophia Racciatti each netted a pair of goals for the Bearcats. Junior Alex Fisher dished out a team-high two assists to go with her goal.

Down by seven at the break, Binghamton sprinted out of the locker room with a 4-0 run sparked by a pair of Racciatti goals. Following Kiviat's successful free position attempt the Bearcats cut the Golden Griffs' lead to three, 12-9, with 24:40 remaining. However, the three-time defending MAAC Champions answered with a crippling 7-0 run over the next 19 minutes to take its largest lead of the game, 19-9. The Canisius defense limited Binghamton to just one goal following its 4-0 run to open the final 30 minutes of play.

Canisius closed a high-scoring first half on a 5-0 run to take a 12-5 lead into the break. The Golden Griffs charged out of the gates scoring five of the contest's first six goals to take a 5-1 lead at the 18:00 mark. However, back-to-back goals by Arthur and Vespa pulled the Bearcats within two, 5-3. Canisius had an answer all afternoon netting two straight goals to push its lead back to four. Binghamton countered with goals from Fisher and Arthur to slice the lead to two again, 7-5, with 11:24 remaining in the half. The Golden Griffs late run ensued finishing with a season-high 12 first half goals. The 12 goals were the most the Bearcats allowed in any half this season.

Sophomore goalie Erin McNulty, who made five saves in 30 minutes of work, was tagged with the loss. Fisher added three draw controls and three ground balls to her offensive output. Sophomore defender Kelsey Michele had a team-high two caused turnovers to go with her two ground balls.

Canisius out shot Binghamton 37-24, while winning the draw control battle 17-13. The Bearcats were solid in the clear game going 10-of-11, but committed 16 turnovers.

Binghamton continues its three-games-in-one-week stretch with a trip to the state capital to face Siena on Thursday, March 20 at 4 p.m. before returning home on Sunday, March 23 at noon to host Quinnipiac.
