VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis captured the doubles point and won at the top singles spot but visiting Penn rattled off five singles wins to deal the Bearcats (14-11) a 5-2 loss in the team's final dual match of the spring Saturday afternoon at the Sports Complex.

The Quakers (7-13) used a pair of three-set triumphs to overtake BU, which will now turn its attention to the upcoming America East Championship.

After Binghamton grabbed the doubles point with wins at the No. 3 and then No. 1 spots, sophomore No. 1 Sid Hazarika rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 win. It was Hazarika's 11th dual win of the season. The match was all even at 2-2 after the first three singles matches but Penn shut the door in the remaining matches, two of which stretched to a third set.

The Bearcats will next head to Columbia, Md. next weekend to defend their conference title for the last time. In the final America East Championship ever contested in men's tennis, BU will look to win its seventh consecutive crown and 10th in 13 years. The America East is discontinuing men's tennis with just four member schools currently offering the sport.
