Men's tennis finalizes class of 2030

VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton's men's tennis announces the signings of Radu Filipache and Milan Icboyun.

Filipache, a Buzau Romania native, was ranked 18th in Romanian U18 national rankings, and was ranked 35th in the Romania men's national rankings. He placed 4th in the Summer National Championship, he earned ITF Men's points after making his way through three rounds of qualifiers at M15 Bistrita, a professional event and picked up a win over Julian DeSousa who had ATP points.

"Through the recruiting process we have constantly been impressed with Radu's maturity in his approach to athletics and academics," head coach Nick Zieziula stated. "Radu is going to come in and make an impact on the top of our lineup straight away. This is a great addition to the program. He will have big shoes to fill, but he is the right guy for the job."

Icboyun, a Paris, France native, joins the Bearcats while being ranked in the top 40 of U18 in France. He qualified for the international stage in Les Petits As in 2022 and reached the top 300 of U14 European Rankings.

"Milan brings a solid level right out of the gate but his opportunity for growth is tremendous," said Zieziula. "Milan has attended one of the best high schools in Paris and in all of France, he is well prepared for the highly competitive academics of Binghamton. In getting to know Milan's teachers and coaches through the recruiting process, his character, discipline and attitude of gratitude stood out as traits developed well beyond his years. We know these will help him be successful individually at Binghamton and help to continue to grow our program."

Filipache and Icboyun round out the Bearcats' class of 2030, joining Vonn Dudek and Luca Ugel.

"This recruiting class may be one of the most well-rounded classes that I have ever brought in," coach Zieziula stated. "They have big shoes to fill with the graduations of Binnie, Lotlikar, Arbittier and McPherson but we are confident that they will be able to continue pushing us forward."
