BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Binghamton men's tennis kicked off the 2026-27 season by hosting the Carousel Classic Invitational that spanned over the course of three days.

The weekend included a community-themed event that featured multiple teams and formats, including the introduction of adaptive tennis programming, designed to create opportunities for athletes with disabilities to experience the sport in a welcoming, competitive, and supportive environment.

"We are so proud today of the City of Binghamton," head coach Nick Zieziula stated. "This was an amazing event to bring together division I teams, wheelchair and club competitors all in one big celebration of tennis, sportsmanship and a celebration of the tennis community of Binghamton. I am very proud of our athletes and how they helped inspire youth on Friday and Saturday and competed hard the whole weekend."

Giannis Sakkas earned two wins in doubles with freshmen pairings Radu Filipache and Vonn Dudek. Freshman Milan Icboyun joined Dudek and Filipache by earning their first collegiate wins in singles action. Filipe Costa and Andre Ajed each picked up a singles victory over the three-day weekend.

"We want to thank all the volunteers that made the weekend happen, Tennis charities of Binghamton, Life is Washable, the City of Binghamton front Mayor Kraham to the Director of Parks and and Rec Pat McGinnis and all the staff along with the sponsors in the Ahearn Foundation, Visions Federal Credit Union , LG&T and Big Zues for making this all happen," said Zieziula. 

The Bearcats return to action for the Binghamton Championships at the Lane-Starke Tennis Center with play spanning over a three-day period, beginning on Friday, Sept. 25.
