ALBANY, N.Y.- The Binghamton volleyball team fell, 3-0, at Albany Friday night. The Great Danes won by scores of 25-12, 25-14, and 25-17 in the America East match at University Gym.
Albany (11-8, 6-1 AE) got out to an early lead in the first set, using the margin to eventually take the opener.
Megan Burgess posted three kills in the frame. In the second game, Burgess led BU again, totaling five kills and a block assist, but Albany grabbed a 2-0 match advantage. Binghamton took a 3-0 lead in the third set, as
Sarah Ngo tallied two kills and an assist. Later in the game,
Gabby Alicea registered a pair of kills and a block assist with
Bianca Anderson to pull the Bearcats within 16-13.
Erin Shultz and Alicea each scored late, but the Great Danes came away with an eight-point victory.
Ngo finished with 21 assists and 10 digs. Alicea scored 9.5 points and Burgess contributed 8.5 in the contest.
Kasey Muchnicki produced 15 digs.
Binghamton (5-17, 2-5 AE) hits the road for two conference matches next weekend. It plays at New Hampshire on Friday, October 30, and then heads to Hartford on Sunday, November 1.
