VESTAL, N.Y. - Sophomore guard Romello Walker and redshirt freshman guard John Schurman combined for 37 points and Binghamton men's basketball shot 54 percent in a comfortable 92-53 exhibition win over visiting SUNY Cobleskill Friday night at the Events Center.

Walker hit 8-of-12 from the floor for a game-high 20 points and Schurman dropped in 17 in his first collegiate performance. Both players made four three-pointers to lead a barrage of BU threes (12-of-25).

Junior guard Marlon Beck II and freshman backcourt mate Everson Davis added 12 points apiece.

"I thought we took care of business tonight," head coach Tommy Dempsey said. "Going through last year when we struggled in exhibition games ... that had us really focused and we showed up ready to work tonight and overall put on a very solid performance."

Cobleskill led 12-10 less than five minutes into the contest before BU took control with a 23-5 run that spanned 8:16. Schurman's three-pointer snapped the final tie of the night at 12-12 and when sophomore center Dusan Perovic hit a three with 7:06 left, the Bearcats' lead had swelled to 33-17. Cobleskill trimmed the margin to 11 before BU ended the half in a 17-4 run to take a 50-26 cushion into break. Walker had 14 of his 20 points in the opening stanza and Perovic added eight in nine first-half minutes.

In the second half, Binghamton extended its lead to as many as 44 points before settling on the final 39-point margin.

Freshman center Thomas Bruce added eight points, nine rebounds and three steals in 20 minutes of work. He had a dunk in each half, including a putback slam at the end of the first half that got a rise out of the home crowd of 1,735.

Binghamton forced 20 Cobleskill turnovers and turned those into a 30 points.

The Division III Fighting Tigers were led by Garrett Pitcher, who tallied 11 points.

The Bearcats open their regular season at St. Bonaventure next Friday before hosting Army on Sunday.
