VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton volleyball team beat UMBC, 3-1, Friday night.
Sarah Ngo tallied 57 assists and 12 digs as BU hit a season-high .405 in the America East match at the West Gym. The Bearcats won by scores of 25-22, 30-32, 25-16, and 25-20.

BU took the first and third games to gain control of the match. In the fourth set, the teams battled back and forth, with nine ties and six lead changes occurring. Early kills by
Gabby Alicea and
Bianca Anderson made it 3-3. The visitors grabbed a 7-4 advantage, but Binghamton immediately responded with a 5-0 run to regain the lead. Ngo found
Megan Burgess,
Kristella Morina, and
Erin Shultz for points and then Burgess served an ace. A UMBC error made it 9-7. Consecutive kills by Morina from Ngo put the Bearcats ahead, 11-9.

The Retrievers eventually took a 14-13 lead, but three Anderson points kept BU close. After a Shultz point, UMBC scored for a 20-17 margin. Binghamton answered with an 8-0 spurt to swing the momentum and suddenly close out the night. Ngo hit Shultz for a kill and then Alicea and Morina put down a block. Alicea followed with a pair of points to take a 21-20 edge. Morina and Ngo then teamed up for a block. After a Retriever miscue, Ngo assisted on another Alicea kill, pushing the contest to match point. Morina and Alicea combined for a block to win the set and lift BU to victory.

Ngo finished with 57 assists, 12 digs, and 3 kills. Alicea scored 19.5 points and added 10 digs. She hit .394 on the night. Morina put up 19 points, including 6 block assists. The sophomore attacked at a .652 clip in the contest. Shultz registered 17 points, while Burgess provided 12 points.
Kasey Muchnicki collected 11 digs.

As a team, Binghamton hit .405, a season-high. In the second frame, the Bearcats hit .541, setting a season high for a single set.

BU led the entire way in the opener, coming away with a three-point win. In the second game, UMBC (11-12, 5-4 AE) pulled out a dramatic 32-30 victory. The set featured 12 ties and 4 lead changes. The teams combined for 45 kills and just 5 errors in the frame. Binghamton responded in the third game, hitting .484 as a group. With the set even at 7, the Bearcats recorded a 10-2 run to gain control on their way to a 25-16 win.

Binghamton (7-18, 4-6 AE) hosts Stony Brook in its final home match of the season tomorrow. The America East contest is slated for a 7 p.m. start at the West Gym. Senior
