VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team heads to Drexel for a non-conference contest on Tuesday, March 24. The game is slated for a 4:30 p.m. faceoff at Vidas Field.
BU has a 2-4 record this season. It fell, 9-8, in a tight match with #16 Towson last weekend.
Zach Scaduto finished with three goals and an assist, while
Sean Gilroy recorded a hat trick.
Tucker Nelson put up a goal and a helper, scoring his 100
th career point as a Bearcat. He is the fourth BU player with 100 points, joining
Matt Springer, Tyler Perrelle, and Michael Antonozzi on the list. Nelson has also scored in all 33 games of his BU career, the 11
th-longest active streak in Division I.
Drexel is 3-5 in 2015, including a 9-7 win at Michigan on March 21. Ryan Belka scored twice late to break a fourth-quarter tie, leading the Dragons to a road win. Belka finished with three goals and Jimmie Joe Granito tallied 11 saves in net.
BU leads the nation in turnovers, committing just 11 per game, the fewest in Division I. It also has a 91.4 percent clearing rate, third-highest in the country. Both the turnover rate and clearing percentage pace the America East this season.
Nelson leads Binghamton with 23 points (8 goals, 15 assists). Fellow senior
Paul O'Donnell has scored a team-high 11 goals, while redshirt freshman
Sean Gilroy has posted 10 scores.
Tanner Cosens has made the last three starts in goal, totaling 33 saves and a .541 save percentage.
Belka has put up 17 goals and 12 assists to lead Drexel in 2015. Cole Shafer has also scored 17 goals, while Nick Saputo has won 57.9 percent of his faceoffs, collecting 71 groundballs in eight matches. Granito and Will Gabrielsen have split time in net, with each making four starts for the Dragons.
