VESTAL, N.Y.—The Binghamton women's lacrosse team plays in their first home contest this season, as they host Lafayette today. Binghamton (1-1) is coming off their first win of the season, and look to keep things rolling against Lafayette (1-4) at the Bearcats Sports Complex today at 4 p.m.
QUICK HITSSenior captain
Renee Kiviat kept her goals streak (6 games) alive with a pair of goals on Saturday. She has now found the back of the net 13 times during the streak. Fellow senior captain
Alex Fisher has strung together five straight games with at least one point.
Miriam Ghabarou tallied her first goal of the season on Saturday. She became the second freshman to score this season for Binghamton. The other is
Tiffany Ryan, who picked up an assist in the Bearcats' win.
With a win, Binghamton would start the season 2-1 for the second time in program history. The first was last season, when the Bearcats started 2-0 before having their perfect record ended by the Leopards.
Erin McNulty made eight saves to pick up her first win of the season on Saturday. That gives her 18 saves for the season, an average of 9 per game.
LAST TIME OUTBinghamton got their first win of the season at Quinnipiac. BU jumped out to a 9-2 halftime lead, and stifled the Bobcats late, to win 11-8.
Sophia Racciatti had a hat trick for the Bearcats, while
Renee Kiviat,
Alex Fisher, and
Callon Williams enjoyed two-goal games.
Valerie DeNapoli and
Miriam Ghabarou each tallied their first goals of the season.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTEThe Leopards are 1-4 this season, with their lone win coming against UC Davis on February 22. Their most recent game was a 17-7 loss at Temple on February 28. The Leopard offense has been all about Kirsten Wilhelmsen so far. The sophomore has 14 of the team's 35 goals, with the next closest teammate at 5.
ALL-TIME SERIESThe Bearcats and Leopards have met once all-time, with Lafayette winning 12-6 on March 1 of last year. The win dealt Binghamton their first loss of the season, and ultimately kept BU from starting the season 5-0. Then-sophomore Charlotte Avallone scored four times for the Leopards, as Lafayette scored 9 of the last 10 goals.
