Softball hosts Albany in AE series

Bearcats and Great Danes play 1 p.m. DH Saturday, noon game on Sunday


STORY LINES

- Binghamton (13-14, 4-3 AE) split a doubleheader against UMass Lowell on Tuesday, dropping the opener 8-6 before winning the finale 8-1. Junior catcher Lisa Cadogan finished the afternoon with two home runs and six RBI. Also homering for the Bearcats were junior outfielder Sydney Harbaugh and freshman outfielder Jessica Rutherford. Freshman second-baseman Stephanie Bielec, meanwhile, batted a team-best .500 (3-for-6).

- For the season, Cadogan leads the Bearcats and is tied for fourth in the America East with a .400 batting average. She is also tied for second in the conference with eight home runs and is second with 33 RBI. Harbaugh, meanwhile, is batting .368 with five home runs and 22 RBI while Rutherford is hitting .326.

- Albany (19-10, 4-2 AE) swept Cornell 10-4 and 2-1 on Wednesday to wrap up a season-high, 12-game home stand. Maggie Cocks ranks second in the America East with a .424 batting average while Vicky McFarland is tied with Cadogan in batting (.400).  Elizabeth Snow has been the Great Danes' best power hitter with four home runs and 19 RBI.

- Following Saturday's doubleheader, the softball team will have a poster signing at the Bearcats Sports Complex Softball Facility.
