BUFFALO, N.Y. - Host Buffalo stretched a 1-0 lead with a pair of second-half tallies and pinned a 3-0 loss on Binghamton women's soccer (1-4-1) Friday night from UB Stadium.

The Bulls (4-2-1) opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a strike from the left side of the box.

The Bearcats had a near-miss nine minutes later when senior midfielder Katherine Corcoran ripped a shot from 22 yards that the Buffalo keeper just tipped over the crossbar.

In the second half, the Bulls put the game away with goals in the 57th and 77th minutes.

"I thought we hung in there and competed with a very good and physical Buffalo team," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "We saw some really great improvements in certain areas and are excited to continue preparing for conference play."

Sophomore keeper Katie Hatziyianis made eight saves.

Buffalo held a 26-8 advantage in shots.

Binghamton heads to Philadelphia on Sunday for a noon encounter with Temple.
