STONY BROOK, N.Y.- Binghamton volleyball fell, 3-1, at Stony Brook Friday night. The Seawolves won the America East match by scores of 17-25, 25-17, 25-23, and 26-24 at Pritchard Gymnasium.

The Bearcats were solid in the first set, taking a 1-0 match advantage.
Lauren Kornmann scored to open the contest.
Gaby Alicea served an ace and later
Sarah Ngo found
Kristella Morina for a kill and a 9-5 lead. Alicea scored twice around an
Erin Shultz kill as BU grabbed a 14-9 margin. Kornmann went on to score consecutive points and then Morina posted an ace to make it 18-14.

Ngo assisted on a
Bianca Anderson kill and then the duo teamed up for a block to take a six-point lead. Anderson followed with two more kills and then the Seawolves erred on game point, allowing Binghamton to claim a 1-0 match lead.

The hosts tied the match with a 25-17 win in the second frame, but the Bearcats fought back in the third set. The teams traded points for much of the game, with an Alicea kill tying the score at 18. Ngo hit Morina for a point and the lead, but Stony Brook evened it at 19. Morina scored, and after a pair of Seawolves points, Ngo set up a Kornmann kill to make it 21-all. Anderson and Kornmann each scored as the set went to a 23-23 draw. The home team came away with the ensuing two points, though, taking a 25-23 decision for a 2-1 match difference.

The fourth game was similar, as neither team could create separation. A Kornmann kill and a Seawolves miscue made it 22-22 late in the frame. Morina put down a solo block and then combined with Kornmann for a rejection and a 24-23 edge. Stony Brook answered with three straight points, however, bringing the match to its conclusion in four games.

Binghamton hit .254 in the contest. Kornmann put up 18.5 points, including 16 kills. Ngo tallied 35 assists and 11 digs for her sixth double-double of the year. Alicea contributed 12.5 points on .360 hitting, while
Bailey Walker added 13 digs. Anderson logged 11 points on .533 hitting.

The Bearcats (8-9, 2-2 AE) head to UMBC for another conference match on Sunday. The bout is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
