VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's basketball (2-2) opens a busy four-games-in-six-days stretch in Florida with a Tuesday night tip at Ave Maria (2-3). The Bearcats and NAIA member Gyrenes tip at 7 p.m. at Tom Golisano Field House.
Binghamton has alternated wins and losses to open the season. The Bearcats have defeated Cornell (68-62) and CCSU (72-70) and lost to BIG EAST member St. John's (77-61) and Atlantic 10 member VCU (81-42). Bobby Ahearn is averaging 7.8 points on 57 percent shooting and Muhammad is chipping in 6.3 points per game.
Ave Maria puts up 77+ points a game on 43 percent shooting and is coming off a 71-66 loss at Sun Conference foe Thomas University on Saturday. The Gyrenes have played a previous game against a non-NAIA school, losing at Division II Embry-Riddle by 48 points on Nov. 11.
Junior guard Deonte Dixon leads the team with a 22.5 scoring average. Junior forward Tejai Allen is averaging 16.3 points.
The Bearcats will play three straight nights in the Fort Meyers area. After the Ave Maria tilt, BU faces Florida Gulf Coast University of Wednesday and then plays a Thanksgiving night neutral-site game against Long Beach State at FGCU.
