VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team travels to Poughkeepsie, New York, this Saturday, February 27, to play Marist College. The non-league contest is set to start at 2 p.m. at Leonidoff Field at Tenney Stadium.
Last weekend, the Bearcats fell in their opening game to Colgate 11-4. Binghamton had 13 shots on goal with
Ben Kocis leading in shots with seven. Kocis, along with
Zach Scaduto,
Tyler Deluca, and
Sean Gilroy each scored for the Bearcats in the 2016 opener. Goalkeeper
Tanner Cosens also contributed with a total of nine saves in net while
Dan Mazurek won 12-19 faceoffs.
Marist also dropped its first game of the season to Air Force. The team lost 7-6 after four overtimes. In his first collegiate start, Brian Corrigan made 17 saves, three of which were during the overtime periods. Joseph Radin was the team's leading scorer with three goals while Jimmy Murphy led in ground balls with six.
In 2015, the Bearcats dropped a 12-9 decision to Marist. Gilroy put up four goals and an assist, while Scaduto registered a hat trick. The Red Foxes went on to have a 14-4 season, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005.
