BINGHAMTON, N.Y.- The Binghamton women's tennis team defeated Marist, 6-1, Friday night at the Binghamton Tennis Center. Five Bearcats won singles matches to take down the Red Foxes in non-conference action Friday.

Annie DiMuro and Sara Kohtz teamed up for a 6-1 #2 doubles win and then Agatha Ambrozy and Olga Ostrovetsky combined for a 6-4 victory, collecting the doubles point for the Bearcats.

In singles competition, BU handled the Foxes, taking five of six bouts. Kohtz beat Karlene Pang at #1, winning by a score of 6-1 and 6-4. Alexis Tashiro claimed a 6-3, 6-5 win over Claire Schmitz at #5 and Ostrovetsky defeated Elizabeth Brozovich, 6-4 and 6-3, at #6. Shea Brodsky and Agatha Ambrozy were both winners in three-set contests. At #3, Brodsky rallied after dropping the first set to Chloe Lant. The senior tied the match with a 6-1 win and then won a tight 7-6 decision in the third. Ambrozy then recorded a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 victory at #4 singles, beating Ariel Shulman.

Binghamton improved to 7-7 on the season. It plays at Cornell on Sunday. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
