VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team hosts Drexel on Tuesday, March 22. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. faceoff at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
BU defeated UMBC, 16-10, in the America East opener on March 19. The Bearcats tied the single-game program record with 16 goals, as they scored six times in the third period to pull away from the Retrievers.
Ben Kocis earned America East Player of the Week after tallying two goals and four assists, while
Joe Licata won conference rookie of the week for his three-goal, one-assist showing in the match. Senior
Zach Scaduto scored a career-high four goals and
Dan Mazurek went 19-26 on faceoffs, claiming 14 groundballs.
Drexel beat St. John's, 13-4, on March 19. The Dragons took a 5-0 lead and never looked back in the home victory. Cole Shafer scored five goals and Jimmy Joe Granito made 16 saves in net.
Binghamton is 1-4 this season. Scaduto leads the team with 11 goals and Kocis has compiled seven goals and a team-high seven assists.
Tanner Cosens has provided 46 saves in five starts for BU. Mazurek has won 55 percent of his faceoffs this year, pacing the team with 24 groundballs.
The Dragons have a 3-4 mark in 2016. They have lost to four nationally-ranked teams this year. Shafer leads the team with 20 points (15 goals, 5 assists). Robert Frazee has 14 goals, while Matthew Varian has posted nine goals and a team-leading six assists. Granito has a .527 save percentage in his seven starts for Drexel.
