VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team travels to #9 Towson on Saturday, March 26. The non-league match is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
BU enters the game having won its last two outings, including a 10-7 win over Drexel on Tuesday.
Matthew Kaser recorded his first career hat trick and
Dan Mazurek and
Austin Macchi combined to win 17-21 faceoffs.
Tanner Cosens collected 11 saves in net. The victory followed Binghamton's 16-10 win over UMBC in the America East opener on March 19. The 16 goals tied a single-game school record, as
Ben Kocis posted a career-high six points (two goals, four assists) on his way to being named conference player of the week.
Joe Licata scored three times to earn America East rookie of the week.
Towson is 7-1, coming off a 15-6 win over Furman last weekend. Ben McCarty tallied two goals and three assists, while Ryan Drenner added two goals and a pair of helpers in the contest. The Tigers improved to 5-0 at home this season.
The Bearcats are 2-4 in 2016. Senior
Zach Scaduto leads the team with 11 goals. Kocis is next with 9 goals, along with a team-high 7 assists. Sophomore
Thomas McAndrew has scored eight times in six games. Mazurek ranks in the top twenty nationally in faceoff percentage, having claimed 58.4 percent of his tries at the 'X'. He paces BU with 24 groundballs. Cosens has notched 57 saves in his six starts in goal.
Drenner leads Towson with 13 goals and 11 assists. Joe Seider has scored a team-leading 15 goals in eight matches. Alec Burckley has won 56.2 percent of his faceoffs, picking up 31 groundballs in the process. Tyler White has started all eight games in net, posting a .562 save percentage for the Tigers.
Last season, Towson escaped the Bearcats Sports Complex with a 9-8 decision. The match was tied at 6 through three quarters. Scaduto led BU with a hat trick and an assist, while
Sean Gilroy also contributed three goals. Drenner led the Tigers with four points on the day.
