Men's Lacrosse Falls at #9 Towson Saturday Afternoon

TOWSON, Md.- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team fell, 15-6, at #9 Towson Saturday afternoon. Ben Kocis scored two goals in the non-league game at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

BU got out to a stellar start, as Kocis scored less than two minutes in. Tanner Cosens made a save on Towson's next possession, setting up another BU goal. Kocis found the back of the net for the second time, with 9:44 remaining in the opening period, giving Binghamton a 2-0 advantage.

The hosts got on the board, but Cosens stood tall in net, posting five saves in the first 15 minutes, including a stop late in the frame that ignited a late opportunity for the Bearcats. Garrett Waldron collected the groundball and then assisted on a Johnny Maher goal with two seconds left in the quarter, putting BU ahead, 3-1.

In the second period, the Tigers scored twice, but Cosens kept them from doing more damage, tallying four saves to send the match into halftime even at 3.

Towson scored the first two goals of the second half, but Zach Scaduto responded for BU. Freshman Joe Licata hit Scaduto for a goal with 8:23 to play in the third, pulling Binghamton within a goal at 5-4. The hosts came back with three straight goals for an 8-4 margin through three quarters.

Dan Mazurek won the faceoff to begin the fourth, as Joe Grossi claimed the groundball. Mazurek got the ball back and scored just 12 seconds into the frame. The Tigers went on a run to pull away, though. Liam Reaume scored for BU in the fourth.
