VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team hosts Canisius on Tuesday April 12th, at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. as the Bearcats look for their fourth win on the season.
Binghamton (3-6) defeated UMass Lowell by a score of 16-5 in their last outing April 9. The 16 goals tie a program record marking only the fifth time the feat has happened and second time this season.
Zach Scaduto tied his season-high with 4 goals giving him a team-high 17 on the season.
Dan Mazurek won 15-22 faceoffs and claimed seven groundballs he leads the team in both categories. The Bearcats also scored seven second-quarter goals, marking their first seven-goal period since March 30, 2010.
Canisius (3-4) defeated Manhattan 13-11 on April 9. Spurred on by senior Nick Tuttle who leads the team in goals and junior Jeff Edwards the teams point leader. The Griffins scored four goals in the final period to come back and beat the Jaspers. Having dropped the previous two in the series to the Bearcats the Golden Griffins will be looking to keep their momentum.
Binghamton set a school record in the game against UMass Lowell recording the most shots in a single game (59); the previous record was 53 against Vermont in 2007. Led by Scaduto, a senior and sophomore
Ben Kocis the Bearcats look to beat the Griffins for the third year in a row leading the all-time series 4-1.
Last season BU won 11-9 at Canisius
Sean Gilroy and Scaduto each had two goals in the teams' last meeting and look for a repeat performance.
