Softball Returns Home to Face Cornell

Bearcats and Big Red Square off on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (21-12) is at home for just the second time all season. This past weekend, the Bearcats dropped two out of three America East games at Maine, winning the opener 7-3 before losing 3-0 and 2-1 decisions. Senior outfielder Jessica Rutherford led the team with a .444 batting average against the Black Bears, going 4-for-9 in the process.

- Cornell (8-22) split a four-game Ivy League series at Columbia this past weekend. Meg Parker leads the Big Red in batting (.383) and home runs. Leanne Iannucci, meanwhile, has driven in a team-best 22 runs.

- As a team, Binghamton continues to lead the America East in batting (.334). Individually, sophomore outfielder Jessica Rutherford ranks second in the conference in hitting (.418) followed by senior catcher Taylor Chaffee in sixth place (.395) and senior outfielder Sydney Harbaugh in eighth place (.377).

- Since Binghamton moved up to the NCAA Division I level in 2002, Cornell leads the series between the two teams 13-6. Most recently, however, Binghamton sweep a 7-0, 1-0 doubleheader on the road on May 1, 2013.
