VESTAL, N.Y. – For the majority of the 89 Binghamton senior student-athletes, their athletic careers have already ended. This past weekend, however, they wore the Bearcat green one final time.
It was graduation weekend on campus and over a three-day stretch, the Bearcat seniors wore their Binghamton caps and gowns as they received their diplomas. The Events Center had been their home for four years so it was only fitting that their last weekend as students was spent in the same building.
"We are very proud of all our graduating student-athletes," Athletic Director
Patrick Elliott said. "As a group, they have accomplished a lot both in the classroom and with their sports. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors."
For seven student-athletes, however, their focus now returns to athletics. The five seniors on the baseball team head to the America East Tournament this weekend, seeking to win their third conference championship in four years. Track & field standouts Jesse Garn and Joe Miceli, meanwhile, are among a group of four athletes heading to the NCAA East Regional Meet, which takes place Thursday-Sunday.
