VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team opens the 2017 season on Saturday, February 18 when they host Colgate. The non-league contest is set for a 12 pm start at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
Coach Kevin McKeown starts his first season at the helm for the Bearcats. McKeown is a 2006 graduate of Binghamton University and the most decorated men's lacrosse player in program history.
In 2016, the Bearcats won four games and were stellar at home posting a 4-2 record at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Binghamton returns a strong attack group led by seniors Sean Gilroy, Tom Moore and Matt Kaser. Kaser contributed 19 points for the Bearcats in 2016, posting 16 goals and three assists. Tanner Cosens will return for his third season as Binghamton's primary starter in goal. Cosens recorded 111 saves last season.
Colgate won four games in 2016 finishing eighth in their conference. The Raiders return key seniors Jackson Patterson on defense, Brandon Burke in goal and Jack Stebbins in the midfield. Burke recorded a .484 save percentage and a 10.58 goals against average last season. 2016 leading scorer Anthony Abbadessa also returns at attack for the Raiders. Abbadessa finished last season with 20 points on 15 goals and five assists.
