Men's Lacrosse Prepares to Host Marist

The Bearcats and the Red Foxes faceoff at 1 p.m. Saturday

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (1-0) will host Marist (2-1) in a non-conference matchup this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

The Bearcats defeated Colgate 11-8 last weekend to start the season off 1-0. Senior Tom Moore led the way for Binghamton netting four goals and adding one assist. Classmate Sean Gilroy recorded a hat trick and senior goalie Tanner Cosens had 15 saves on the day. Cosens .652 save percentage landed him America East Defensive Play of the Week honors.

Marist was handed their first lost of the season by Princeton on Tuesday evening. The Red Foxes fell to the Tigers 10-6. Junior Gannon Morrison scored a pair of goals and J.D. Recor dished out three assists. Freshman Peyton Smith was dominant in the faceoff X, winning 11 of 12 attempts. Marist won their first two games of the season, defeating Colgate 12-8 and Air Force 10-4. Recor leads the Red Foxes with eight goals and eight assists while Morrison has scored 9 goals in the three games.

The last time the two teams met, Marist topped Binghamton 10-8. Thomas McAndrew scored two goals in last year's non-conference matchup and Binghamton owned the shots on goal advantage 42-33.
