Men's Lacrosse Tops Delaware 13-9

Senior Tom Moore contributes four goals and three assists

NEWARK, DE. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (4-1) defeated Delaware (5-3) 13-9 at Delaware Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Tom Moore led all scorers with four goals and three assists. This is the second game in a row Moore has contributed seven points for Binghamton. Seven different players contributed goals in the victory for Binghamton. The Bearcats are now on a three-game win streak and have tied their win total from last season.

"Today was a total team effort," said Coach Kevin McKeown. " With it being our third game in seven days, we needed a lot of guys to step up - and they did. Our offense did a great job shooting the ball, scoring on almost 50 percent of our shots. Our midfielders also did a great job of getting back on defense and stopping their transition game."

Senior Tom Moore netted the first goal of the game with 10:19 remaining in the first period on an assist from classmate Tyler Deluca. Sophomore Joe Licata scored an unassisted goal at 9:12 before Delaware got on the board with their first goal of the game. Griffin Konen scored a manup goal to close out the period and put the Bearcats ahead 3-1.

In the second period, the Blue Hens scored quickly to put themselves within one and make the score 3-2. Tom Moore answered for the Bearcats with an unassisted goal at 12:41. Delaware then went on to score two back-to-back goals and tie the game 4-4 at the half.

The Bearcats got hot in the third period scoring four times. Moore added two goals while Sean Gilroy and Thomas McAndrew each contributed one. The Blue Hens didn't go away though, scoring three goals of their own to make the score 8-7 after three periods of play.

Binghamton scored four unanswered goals to start the fourth period and the Blue Hens couldn't find an answer. Konen scored on a pass from Moore with 13:24 remaining, Deluca scored a man up goal on another pass from Moore one minute later. Petrelli netted an unassisted goal at 10:42 and Kevin Fuchs scored his first goal of the season at 10:42 to give Binghamton their largest lead of the game (12-7). Delaware scored with 5:41 remaining to make it a 12-8 game. McAndrew answered with his second goal of the game on an assist from Konen before Delaware scored with 11 seconds remaining.

Tanner Cosens recorded 10 saves in net for Binghamton and Zach Barrett picked up four ground balls. The Bearcats were 4-5 in man up opportunities.
