BALTIMORE, Md.- The Binghamton women's lacrosse (5-8) will visit the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Retrievers (9-4) on Wednesday, April 12th. First draw is set for 2 p.m. at UMBC Stadium.
The Bearcats are looking to avenge back to back losses against #8 Cornell and #4 Stony Brook last week. In their last game Binghamton fell to Stony Brook 20-4. The Binghamton offense was rolling prior to the Cornell game, scoring in double figures in four of the previous five outings. Binghamton is among the conference leaders in shot-percentage (.439), save-percentage (.453), and caused turnovers (7.00). Rebecca Golderman had one of the team's four goals against Stony Brook and ranks inside the top-10 in several America East offensive categories. The standout sophomore from Albany finds herself near the conference lead in goals per game (3.00), points per game (3.50), and draw controls per game (4.00). Defensively for the Bearcats, Emma Jehle leads all America East goalies in conference play thus far with 11.00 saves per game. Coach Allen and the Bearcats look to claim their second conference win of the season with an offensive outburst.
The Retrievers of UMBC come into this game riding a three game win streak. In the last three games they have scored a total of 53 goals while only allowing opponents to score 24 of their own. They are currently in third place in the America East standings and are 5-1 at UMBC Stadium this season. The Retrievers rank third in the America East in goals per game (15.00) and assists per game (9.67). This high octane offense is lead by sophomore Lauren McDonald and senior Sam Nolan. McDonald ranks second in the America East in goals per game and Nolan is second in assists per game. Another key weapon of this UMBC offense is Sara Moeller, who has contributed 59 points of her own this season.
The two teams have met 13 times and Binghamton's lone victory came on senior day in Vestal in 2014. UMBC won 11-10 in overtime a season ago to push the series record to 12-1. Binghamton will look to halt this two game losing streak and notch their third road win of the year.
