LOWELL, Mass. - Binghamton baseball (30-12) resumes its America East tournament Saturday afternoon when the top-seeded Bearcats face fifth-seeded Maine (24-29) in an elimination game at 2:30 p.m. at LeLacheur Park. With a win, BU would advance to a 6:30 p.m. game against the loser of the winner's bracket semifinal. Binghamton has to win four straight games to capture the conference title.Â
Rain has wreaked havoc on the tournament, resulting in a difficult opening-day for the regular season champion Bearcats, who as the top seed were brought to the park at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, returned to the hotel and then brought back to play the only game of the day amid steady afternoon rain. The ensuing postponed games pushed the schedule back and resulted in a full day of idling for BU on Friday.
The Bearcats were held to seven hits in their 7-3 loss to Albany in their tournament opener. They stranded nine runners and BU pitchers allowed six run-scoring hits with two outs.Â
After losing to Albany in the tournament's first game Wednesday afternoon, Maine has won back-to-back elimination games, including a 3-0 win over Stony Brook Friday night. After starting the day with a 3-2 loss to No. 2 UMBC, Stony Brook was eliminated. On Saturday, UMBC will face Albany in a championship bracket semifinal at 11 a.m.Â
During the regular season, Binghamton swept three games from the Black Bears, winning 9-3, 7-4 and 3-2. In 16 years of head-to-head competition, Maine holds a slight 33-32 edge in the all-time series. The Bearcats, however, have won eight of the last nine meetings.

Jacob Wloczewski (4-1, 3.20 ERA) gets the start for Binghamton. The defending champion Bearcats have only lost two games in a row one time since March (a doubleheader to Stony Brook) and are a combined 37-10 against America East opponents in the last two seasons.Â
