VESTAL, N.Y. - Former Binghamton baseball standout
Nick Roselli has earned a professional baseball promotion and will be back in town tonight playing for the Double-A
Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
Roselli was called up from High-A Brooklyn Thursday afternoon and will be in the starting lineup tonight when the Ponies host New Hampshire. First pitch is at 6:07 p.m. at Mirabito Stadium. He becomes the first Bearcat to play for the Mets' Double-A franchise in Binghamton. Roselli also will become the third Bearcat to play Double-A ball in the downtown stadium, joining pitchers Mike Augliera (May 4, 2015) and Murphy Smith (June 30, 2016), who both played against the then-Binghamton Mets at the stadium.
In his third pro season, Roselli has played 16 games for the Brooklyn Cyclones and has hits in each of his last two games before his call-up. He has played 122 professional games early in his career and has 83 hits and 60 RBI. Roselli has 10 home runs and 29 extra-base hits.Â
Roselli was taken in the 11th round of the 2024 MLB Draft after a stellar three-year collegiate career at Binghamton. He hit .349 with the Bearcats, including a sizzling .388 mark in 2024. In his three-year Binghamton career, Roselli accumulated 153 hits and 104 RBI in 115 starts. Nearly 40 percent of those hits were for extra-bases, including 26 home runs. th), on-base percentage (2
nd, .442) and slugging (2
nd, .608). In his junior season, Roselli shook off an early-season injury and earned America East all-conference accolades after hitting .391 in conference play. His on-base percentage hovered near .500 and half of his hits were for extra-bases.
Known for his clutch hitting, Roselli excelled in the postseason, batting .378 in 11 tournament games. He went 6-for-8 with two home runs and three RBI at the 2022 NCAA Stanford Regional. In 2024, he celebrated his return to the lineup after seven weeks with a two-run home run in his first at-bat. Roselli hit .500 (20-for-40) over his final 10 collegiate games. Â

Augliera pitched for the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, against the Binghamton Mets at NYSEG Stadium in 2015. He earned a 4-1 win on May 4, 2015 after going five-plus innings, allowing one hit on six hits with three strikeouts ... Two years before making his Major League Baseball debut with Toronto, Smith earned the save in a 4-2 New Hampshire win over the B-Mets June 30, 2016 at the Stadium ...
