STORY LINES
- The start time for the match against James Madison has been moved up to 5 p.m. tonight. It was originially scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

- James Madison (1-0-1) is coming off a 1-0 win over visiting Pittsburgh on Sunday. Billy Metzler netted the game winner in just the 12th minute. Earlier in the year, the Dukes tied Florida International 1-1. In 2016, James Madison finished 5-9-3.
- In the only previous matchup between the two squads, James Madison handed Binghamton a 3-0 setback on Sept. 1, 2013. It took place in the Dukes' home invitational that season.
- Virginia Tech (1-1-0) went 13-5-4 in 2016 and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Currently, the Hokies are ranked No. 15 by College Soccer News and are receiving votes in the NCSAA poll. So far this season, Virginia Tech has beaten No. 14 Creighton 2-0 but lost to Omaha 5-1.
- Fittingly enough, the Bearcats and Hokies only previous meeting also took place at the 2013 James Madison Invitational. Virginia Tech won that match – which took place on Aug. 31 of that year – 1-0.
