Men's Soccer Hosts Columbia on Family Weekend

Bearcats and Lions square off Saturday at 1 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (2-3-1) played to a 1-1 deadlock at American on Monday afternoon. Junior forward Nikos Psarras scored the game-tying goal in the 50th minute. Freshman midfielder Noah Luescher, the current America East Rookie of the Week, added the assist.

- Psarras is tied for the America East lead with five goals while Luescher is second with four assists. Psarras and Luescher are also tied for third in the America East with 10 total points. As a team, Binghamton ranks third in the America East with 1.83 goals per game.

- Columbia is coming off a 2-1 win over Monmouth on Tuesday. Arthur Bosua, who leads the team in scoring (two goals, two assists and six total points), netted the game winner in the 61st minute. Back on Sept. 9, the Lions played America East opponent New Hampshire (ranked No. 24 in the United Soccer Poll) to a 1-1 draw.

- Columbia has won all three previous meetings against the Bearcats, including a 2-1 home win last Sept. 18. Bosua scored the game winner in the 81st minute. Current redshirt senior captain Charlie Novoth had the goal for the Bearcats.

- Luescher is the first Binghamton player to earn America East Rookie of the Week honors twice in a season since current junior Harrison Weilbacher during the 2015 season. The only three-time honoree is Stef Gonet, who was recognized during the 2003 campaign.

- Psarras is the third Binghamton player during the program's 17-year Division I era to score a goal in at least three straight games. Jake Keegan did it twice ( four games from Aug. 26-Sept. 11, 2011 and three games from Aug. 31-Sept. 7, 2012) while Charles Darkwah's three-game streak went from Oct. 9-20, 2004. Keegan holds the record for the longest Division I era scoring streak

- This marks the third time that Binghamton has played a matinee game on Family Weekend. The Bearcats defeated New Hampshire 1-0 in 2014 and UMBC 2-1 the following season. Both games drew over 1,000 fans to the Bearcats Sports Complex.
