Binghamton Athletic Department Announces 2017 Homecoming Weekend Schedule

Three-day event to run from Oct. 6-8

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton University Athletic Department has released its schedule of events for Homecoming Weekend, which will be held Oct. 6-8.

Prior to the weekend festivities, the women's soccer team hosts UMBC at the Bearcats Sports Complex on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. The Bearcats recently completed a 6-1-3 non-conference slate and are unbeaten in their last five matches.

The following morning, the athletic department will hold a 10 a.m. ceremony in the TAU Room of the Event Center, honoring 2017 men's lacrosse All-Americans Tom Moore and Garrett Waldron. The two recent Binghamton graduates are just the 12th and 13th NCAA Division I All-Americans in athletic program history. The event is open to the media and public.

For the fifth consecutive year, five Binghamton alumni athletes will return to campus for the Alumni Networking Panel. This year, Meghan Taylor (women's soccer '06), Dave Tauber (men's swimming '94), Matt Narode (men's soccer '08), Michael Lane (men's tennis '89) and Kristen Stone (women's lacrosse '13) will return to share advice with current senior student-athletes on how to transition to life after graduation. The event will take place Friday at 5 p.m. in the TAU Room of the Events Center.

The men's lacrosse team is one of four Bearcat programs holding its annual Alumni Game on Homecoming Week. It will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. on the game turf the Bearcats Sports Complex. On Saturday, Alumni Games will be held for women's soccer (11 am on the practice field), women's lacrosse (noon on the practice turf) and men's soccer (1 p.m. on the game turf).

The men's soccer team is also in action on campus during Homecoming Weekend. The Bearcats square off against UMBC at 6 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Since the facility opened in 2007, the men's soccer Homecoming Game has averaged 2,031 fans and has sold out twice (2,500).

The men's soccer Homecoming game will once again be preceded by the annual tailgate, which will be held from 3-6 p.m. in the Events Center parking lot. The Varsity Club will have a tent with food and drinks open to all former Binghamton athletes.

During the Homecoming Tailgate, the winner of the Second Annual Alumni Giving Challenge will be announced. The event, which began two weeks ago, runs through Sept. 29.  The goal of the Alumni Giving Challenge is to increase participation among former Binghamton student-athletes who contributed to the Athletics Department.
