Men's Soccer Hosts Stony Brook on Homecoming Weekend

Bearcats and Seawolves battle for first place in AE on Saturday at 6 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (3-6-2, 2-0-0 AE) and Stony Brook (5-3-2, 2-0-0 AE) enter the match tied for first place in the America East. The winner will be in sole possession of first place in the conference.

- The Bearcats are 2-0-0 in America East play for the first time since 2014 – and the sixth time since they joined the conference in 2001. Binghamton started off its conference schedule 2-0-1 in 2010 but has never been 3-0-0.

- This marks the 12th Homecoming Game since the Bearcats Sports Complex opened in 2007. The previous 11 matches have averaged 2,026 fans, which includes a pair of sellouts (2,500). The Bearcats are 5-4-2 in its previous Homecoming matches. Most recently, Binghamton tied then No. 16 UMBC 1-1 on Oct. 7, 2017. This marks the first time the Bearcats will face Stony Brook on Homecoming Weekend.

- The Bearcats' match against Stony Brook is one of the signature events of Homecoming Weekend at Binghamton University. For the 11th consecutive year, a university-wide pre-game tailgate will take place in the Events Center lot during the three hours before kick off. 

- Binghamton and Stony Brook each beat a ranked conference opponent last Saturday. The Bearcats defeated than No. 23 New Hampshire 2-1 while the Seawolves took down then No. 16 UMass Lowell 4-0. In their most recent matches, Binghamton lost 2-0 at West Virginia on Tuesday while Stony Brook played to a scoreless tie at No. 21 Fordham that same night.

- Sophomore midfielder Noah Luescher, the current America East Offensive Player of the Week, leads the Bearcats with eight total points (two goals and four assists). Against the Wildcats last Saturday, finished with a goal and an assist.

- Serge Gamwanya leads Stony Brook with five goals and 11 total points. Rondell Payne, who scored his first career goal against the River Hawks last Saturday, is the current America East Rookie of the Week.

- Binghamton leads the all-time series against Stony Brook 9-6-5. The past two meetings, however, have results in 0-0 ties. The two squads are deadlocked a 2-2-2 at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

- In the America East statistics, Luescher is tied for second with 0.36 assists per game. Martieon Wilson of Stony Brook is first with .400 assists per game. Gamwanya, meanwhile, is second with .500 goals per game.
